Equine Assisated Therapy
Each year people with physical, cognitive, and/or emotional disabilities are discovering the benefits of equine assisted therapuetic riding. Research shows that students who participate in such activitity can find a sense of independence and self confidence from equine assited therapies. The Horse Harbor Foundation offers four equine therapy classes each week. It is the goal of the equine assisted therapy program to engage students in physical, emotional, and therapuetic activities that enrich their lives along with their equine partners.
The mission of HHF, the concept of horse rescue and the evolution in the interaction between humans and horses to be a more mutually beneficial relationship is the basis for our equine assisted therapy program. The educational and recreational benefits of this interaction are recognized and utilized in a therapuetic program under established guidelines. The horses' intelligence, spirit, and individual abilities are recognized. The therpeutic approach addresses the psycho-social needs of youth and adults alike. We respect the dignity and welfare of individuals and animals.
