Meesha is roughly 22 years old and was rescued when her owner, a victim of terminal
cancer, could no longer care for her. When she arrived, her feet were in terrible condition, and her hooves are ridged and
lined. Both of her front feet have permanent damage due to laminitis, but Meesha now has proper hoof care and a proper diet.
She was used sparingly in the school for a short period of time, often in special needs
classes because of her extremely calm, gentle disposition. She is possibly the sweetest, friendliest horse the Foundation
has, and she loves attention although she is no longer rideable.
Unfortunately, Meesha recently suffered a freak accident in which an artery in her leg
was sliced open in three places. She lost a lot of blood and if Foundation staff and students had not been on hand to deal
with it, she could have faced death. She also cut over her fetlock joint on her other leg, and if it had been a hair closer
to the joint she would have lost the leg and probably also her life. She was stitched up and isolated for several weeks, but
eventually the cuts healed and she is now back on her feet.
